Teaching children of primary school age (3-11) is arguably one of the most rewarding career choices an educational professional can make. Throughout these crucial years you will play a significant role in helping pupils to acquire and develop the essential skills they will need to carry them through the rest of their education and later life.
In the UK primary school progression is generally split into three tiers, and teachers are required to conduct classes for all stages:
- Early/Foundation Years (ages 3-5)
- Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7)
- Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11)
Primary school teaching is ideal for teachers who want to engage in the whole curriculum, rather than to specialise in just one subject – as is the case for secondary school teaching roles. A great deal of creativity and flexibility is often required in teaching style, in order to keep kids engaged and enthusiastic. However, this is perhaps considered one of the greatest benefits by those who choose this profession.
At World Class Teachers, we require our UK primary school teaching candidates to possess at minimum:
- A Bachelor of Education or Primary PGCE
- A valid passport and visa which allows you to work in the UK
- Experience in teaching the UK curriculum, or a curriculum which is very similar
Specific requirements for our primary teacher roles will vary by job or by school, so please don’t forget to read the description thoroughly before sending your application.
